Bilingual Child Psychologist
Dr. Dubois, who is originally from Quebec, completed her undergraduate studies at McGill University and then went on to complete her Master's and Ph.D in Clinical Psychology at Concordia University. She specializes in working with children, adolescents and their families. The majority of her clinical training took place at the Applied Psychology Centre at Concordia University and at the Montreal Children's Hospital, where she worked with children with a wide range of medical issues (e.g. chronic pain, feeding problems, epilepsy, cancer, etc.). She then went on to work for a community hospital where her role was shared between the Developmental Clinic (autism assessments) and the Youth Mental Health team. Her expertise with complex cases was highly sought after, and also led to a thriving private practice. After moving to Ontario in early 2014, Dr. Dubois worked in a private multidiciplinary clinic, and now has her own private practice. This allows her to provide the best quality services while collaborating with different professionals in the community.
Dr. Dubois focuses on providing, in both French and English, services such as psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic assessments (for Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, etc.). Her detailed reports provide parents with complete information regarding their child's strengths and weaknesses as well as recommendations for the home and school environment. Her services are also available following the assessment to help the family and the school develop an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or to collaborate on different behavioural interventions. Dr. Dubois also provides therapy services, mainly using Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She can help children and adolescents who experience depression, anxiety, chronic pain, low self-esteem, difficulty adjusting to different life events (e.g. parental separation, death of a loved one, etc.). She also provides social skills training using the Social Thinking programs (www.socialthinking.com), such as Superflex.
Dr. Dubois is determined to offer the best quality care. She therefore continuously strive to gain additional skills and perfect old ones. She is currently completing the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BACB) requirement courses through the Florida Institute of Technology ABA Program, and has recently attended additional training in treating feeding problems (Mealtime Miseries) and behaviour problems (Collaborative Problem Solving).
